Privacy

Privacy, by design.

Nearbo is built so your files and streams stay on your local network. This draft explains what that means — and what it does not.

Last updated: October 22, 2026

On your network

Files and streams travel directly between your devices.

No account

No sign-up, no profile, no cloud locker.

No upload

Nearbo does not upload your files to our servers.

No ad tech

No advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics.

Scope

This policy covers the Nearbo website and the Nearbo apps (including Nearbo TV). It does not cover third-party services you choose to use, such as a TV manufacturer’s software or a cloud storage provider.

The short version

Nearbo is a local-first product. The files you send and the media you cast are intended to travel directly between devices on your network. We do not operate a relay for your content, and we do not require an account.

What the app handles

  • Device discovery: Nearbo uses local network discovery (including multicast DNS) to find nearby devices. This information stays on your network.
  • File transfer: files are sent directly to the receiving device you choose. Nearbo does not upload them to a Nearbo server.
  • Casting and music: media is streamed to the receiver you select on your local network.
  • Remote control: commands are sent directly to Nearbo TV on your local network.
  • Settings: device name, preferences and local history are stored on your device.
  • Permissions: camera, photos, files, local network, notifications and Bluetooth are requested only when a feature needs them. You can change them in system settings.

What we do not collect

Nearbo is designed without an account system, cloud file storage, advertising SDKs or third-party analytics. We do not sell personal information. We do not build advertising profiles.

The website

This website is static. It does not set cookies, run analytics, or load third-party fonts, scripts or trackers. When the site is hosted, the hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP address, user agent and requested URL) to serve the site and keep it secure. Those logs are controlled by the hosting provider.

Diagnostics

If a future version offers optional diagnostics, it will be opt-in, explain what is sent, and be described in an update to this policy. The current draft does not include crash reporting or telemetry.

Children

Nearbo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can use Nearbo without an account. You can stop a transfer, clear local history in the app, and change permissions in system settings. Because we do not operate a user account, there is no profile to delete on our side.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product develops. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be described here before they take effect.
